ܘܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܚܡܣܢܢ ܨܒܝܢ ܠܡܦܫ ܒܐܬܢܘܣ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܢ
blkhwdyn b'thnws lmpsh tsbyn khmsnn dl' wmTl
Therefore when we couldn’t stand it any longer, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone,

ܘܢܫܕܪ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܠܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܐܚܘܢ ܘܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܥܕܪܢܢ ܒܣܒܪܬܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܢܫܪܪܟܘܢ ܘܢܒܥܐ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ
hymnwthkwn el mnkwn wnbe' dnshrrkwn dmshykh' bsbrthh wmedrnn d'lh' wmshmshn' 'khwn lTymth'ws lwthkwn wnshdr
and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s servant in the Good News of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith;

ܕܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܬܬܩܛܥ ܠܗ ܒܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܠܗܕܐ ܗܘ ܣܝܡܝܢܢ
symynn hw dlhd' 'nthwn ydeyn gyr 'nthwn hlyn b'wltsn' lh ththqTe mnkwn 'nsh dl'
that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you know that we are appointed to this task.

ܐܦ ܟܕ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܩܕܡܢ ܐܡܪܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܬܝܕܝܢܢ ܠܡܬܐܠܨܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܗܘܐ
dhw' 'nthwn dydeyn 'ykn' lmth'ltsw dethydynn lkwn 'mrn qdmn gyr hwyn lwthkwn kd 'p
For most certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it happened, and you know.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܚܡܣܢܬ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܫܕܪܬ ܕܐܕܥ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ ܕܕܠܡܐ ܢܢܣܝܟܘܢ ܡܢܣܝܢܐ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܥܡܠܢ ܣܪܝܩܐ

For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܢ ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܡܢ ܨܐܕܝܟܘܢ ܘܣܒܪܢ ܥܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܚܘܒܟܘܢ ܘܕܐܝܬ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܥܘܗܕܢܢ ܛܒܐ ܒܟܠ ܥܕܢ ܘܣܘܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܝܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܚܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn khnn d'p 'ykn' lmkhzyn 'nthwn wswyn edn bkl Tb' ewhdnn lwthkwn wd'yth khwbkwn wel hymnwthkwn el wsbrn ts'dykwn mn Tymth'ws lwthn d'th' mn dyn hsh'
But when Timothy came just now to us from you, and brought us glad news of your faith and love, and that you have good memories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see you;

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܒܝܐܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܚܝܢ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܥܩܬܢ ܘܐܘܠܨܢܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ

for this cause, brothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith.

ܘܗܫܐ ܗܘ ܚܝܝܢܢ ܐܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܬܩܝܡܘܢ ܒܡܪܢ
bmrn ththqymwn 'nthwn 'n khyynn hw whsh'
For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

ܐܝܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢ ܠܡܦܪܥ ܚܠܦܝܟܘܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܚܕܘܬܐ ܕܚܕܝܢܢ ܡܛܠܬܟܘܢ
mTlthkwn dkhdynn khdwth' kl el l'lh' khlpykwn lmpre mshkkhynn thwdyth' gyr 'yd'
For what thanksgiving can we render again to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God;

ܐܠܐ ܕܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܢܬܟܫܦ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܐܦܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܓܡܘܪ ܡܐ ܕܚܣܝܪܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ
hymnwthkwn dkhsyr' m' wngmwr 'pykwn dnkhz' wb'ymm' blly' nthkshp ythyr'yth 'lh' dqdm 'l'
night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܘܢ ܘܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܢܬܪܘܨ ܐܘܪܚܢ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ
lwthkwn 'wrkhn nthrwts mshykh' yshwe wmrn 'bwn 'lh' dyn hw
Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you;

ܘܢܣܓܐ ܘܢܝܬܪ ܚܘܒܟܘܢ ܕܚܕ ܠܘܬ ܚܕ ܘܕܠܘܬ ܟܠܢܫ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܚܢܢ ܡܚܒܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn mkhbynn dkhnn 'ykn' klnsh wdlwth khd lwth dkhd khwbkwn wnythr wnsg'
and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we also do toward you,

ܘܢܩܝܡ ܠܒܘܬܟܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܪܫܝܢ ܒܩܕܝܫܘܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܘܢ ܒܡܐܬܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܥܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܕܝܫܘܗܝ
qdyshwhy klhwn dem mshykh' yshwe dmrn bm'thythh 'bwn 'lh' qdm bqdyshwth' rshyn dl' lbwthkwn wnqym
to the end he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
